Free Interactive Reading Comprehension Activities for ESL, K-12, and GED

As the end of the school year fast approaches and with it finals in many cases, this site offers lots of free practice in honing reading comprehension skills. Students can progress through it at their own pace. The quizzes that follow each activity can be presented one at a time or all at once. The higher the score, the more accurate their reading comprehension skills. Further, the reading selections have something for everyone!

READING LINK covers 3 reading levels: beginning, intermediate, and advanced. Each "test" question comes with 4 answer choices. Best of all, students (or teachers) can print out the entire activity since not all students are totally comfortable with doing reading entirely on the internet. Since reading selection choice is left up to the student (unless the teacher would like to guide the selection choice based on a more detailed knowledge of the subject material), the student is more likely to want to read. Choice means everything.

A beyond activity might be to have students analyze sentence structure, use of figurative language, etc. Again, if students enjoyed their reading material, they will be more open to writing than if they didn't.

I hope you like it.
