How Much Technology Should We Use In Class?

I am posting this in the hope that teachers will add their insight here. I plan on noting this subject on all the blogs I can find hoping that teachers will find me and add suggestions. I will start with www.classroom20.com. It is a blog that supports all teachers from all disciples at any level of technology expertise. I have been almost living on the site because it is rich with information provided by very friendly supportive techies:)

  1. I have high hopes for my students. Since the majority are poor and are below grade level in key content areas, I would be derelict in my duties as a teacher by not trying to bring in technology. One of my big eureka moments came when I told them to create email accounts on Google and they froze! It is so difficult to believe that in this day and age there are people who don't have email addresses, but here they are! How are your weaving in technology into classes filled with kids who have no experience with it?

    Thanks.

  2. I just discovered a way to possibly connect typing and English -- www.secondlife.com. It is an entirely virtual world! Firefox has trouble with it so I will be using my Mac or Explorer. How would kids feel about typing with a purpose that relates to their interest in computer games? What do you think?

I will be spending the weekend on this goodie:)
