XP MATH--FUN SITE THAT SUPPORTS COMMON CORE STANDARDS IN MATH!

You can weave in common core math standards with this site: XP Math.  The activities and math games are geared to grades 5-9.  Teachers can differentiate instruction by process and content thanks to site tools that collect and analyze all student data submitted.  The results present a detailed picture of where the student is in developing her/his math skills.

How can access to this site be accomplished over the school day/period?  Teachers should try to have a few computers in their classrooms to serve as "tutors."  With XP MATH saved as a favorite, the student could access it with ease, sign in (FREE to register), and pick up where s/he left off the day before.  That additional practice will do much to assist student in mastering the subject area.  The game feature is an excellent substitute for the old "drill and kill" approach.  In XP, students are honing math skills to accomplish a specific task associated with the game while the old-fashioned "drill and kill" will help a student complete an assignment but not retain it.   Teachers could have students keep records on their progress with the final activity being creating a graph on all progress made by the student.
