This site brings us one step closer to seeing in our lifetimes the world of science fiction come to life right before our eyes! If you teach science, science fiction literature, engineering, writing, etc., you might want to share this site with your students.
Challenge them to think about how each of those inventions will radically transform our lives. Discuss how it will provide an even playing field for the blind, amputees, soldiers, etc. If you are teaching literature (Asimov, Bradbury, Wells, etc.), discuss how such inventions could have been imagined by writers years before. How could they have predicted such scientific marvels in their times?
As a closing activity, have them in groups project future changes in TV, computers, transportation, etc. Practice with one common object that they use today and project how it will change in 50 years. Make sure the class agrees on that one object before you start so that everyone can be actively involved in the process. If possible, let them use classroom computers (or their own smart phones if your school allows it).
