Just a Bit of Humor in These Dark Days of American Education:)

With the massive debt, states are slashing the funds for those who have limited voice-children and those who dedicate their lives to preparing those children for an unknown future- teachers (mostly female). Add to this the attack on unions and wages once again. Still, we teach day in and day out, budget cut or not, furlough days or not, etc. We never entered this profession believing we would be rich. We did it to help children realize their dreams.

Watch this and enjoy!

  2. The website you suggested is really interesting; I'm sending it on to friends. It reinforces the idea that in order to fit into the work world they will be facing,m today's learners must have access to electronic media, the internet, etc., and be able to use them.

I just read that Oakland, CA has 500 teachers on the chopping block for next year. Oakland is a large city across the Bay from San Francisco. It has a non-anglo majority plus the school district went bankrupt a few years ago and has been in PI for years. A district which desperately needs an innovative educational program with talented and experienced teachers is once again being gutted. The only educational "program" the CA legislature wants to slash is the one that targets learners of low SES, minorities, potential dropouts and ELLs. Who's next?
